Barbara Gottesman, Founder, College Help! Organization and Advising Services

B.A. – Rutgers University
M.L.S. – Rutgers University

Barbara GottesmanI love teenagers! For the last 20 years I have helped high school students and their families navigate the college process with customized advice, editing and consulting on every aspect of college admissions and life. Previous to founding College Help! Organization and Advising Services, I was an education consultant in NYC for Find/SVP where I specialized in educational trends from daycare through graduate school, researching and writing for some of the largest companies in the world-getting them smart on what was happening on the ground in early childhood through graduate life. This encompassed expertise in psychographics and demographics of education and all family trends. I have also worked or consulted in education environments ranging from Princeton’s Firestone Library to the Presidency of Montclair, New Jersey’s Board of Education. For the latter, I was instrumental in founding the very popular Civics and Government Institute, a small learning community within Montclair High School, re-establishing Department Chairs for Science and Math, and instituting Crew and Fencing teams. Education and Reading have been life time passions and students leave our first meeting with a robust book list. And yes, I must reiterate, I truly love teenagers and meet them where they are no matter what stage or phase they are in. I even love their parents! Call or email me to discuss your concerns or how I can help. About 1,500 families before you were very happy they did.

Eve Gottesman20 years ago, I was my mom’s first test subject and the main impetus to her founding College Help! Organization and Advising Services. I attended Montclair High School and was a member of the Civics and Government Institute. I co-founded and was captain of the MHS Fencing Team, captain of the nationally recognized Crew Team, and was recruited for rowing by a number of NCAA and club college teams. I attended Lehigh University and graduated with a B.S in Psychology and a minor in the Classics. I seemed to have inherited my mother’s love of education and research and after college worked for the Department of Veterans Affairs in an educational capacity. I have authored and edited numerous publications. After receiving my MBA from the Zicklin School of Business at Baruch College in New York, I joined College Help! Organization and Advising Services. With a certificate in Project Management, I assist in keeping students and their parents organized and on track. Within College Help! I specialize in Canadian and International schools and am knowledgeable on the FAFSA and CSS Profile. I can provide a “younger” perspective on colleges, graduate schools, SAT tutoring and what it is like to be a college athlete. Outside of work, I enjoy various physical pursuits (like boxing and weight training) and love watching history documentaries. I am also an avid reader, enjoying everything from non-fiction to romantasy.
